What is ISIS?

                       What is ISIS?

'' shooting,beheading and pump '', ISIS motto

The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, a formerly al-Qaeda–aligned organization known by the acronym ISIS, has been seizing cities in Iraq, carrying out mass killings, and marching toward Baghdad. The Onion breaks down what you need to know about the Sunni Islamist militant group that is suddenly at the forefront of international news:

  • Origin Story: Founded in garage of aspiring jihadist and college dropout Abu Musab al-Zarqawi
  • Common Tactics: Catch international community off guard with a series of escalating attacks over the course of three years
  • Battle-Hardenedness: 8.5 out of 10
  • Presence: Iraq, Syria, Turkey, CNN Homepage
  • Greatest Inspiration: Past 1,300 years of sectarian violence in region
  • Preferred Execution Method: Summary
  • Key Recruiting Pitch: Large, supportive alumni network
  • Interpretation Of Quran: Way off
  • Requirements For New Members: Single-minded obsession with pan-national Islamic state; $159 one-time registration fee
  • Ultimate Goal: Improve U.S.–Iran relations by uniting both nations against common enemy
    • Threat Posed: Could undermine stability of Iraq

The main objective of ISIS is to deploy a caliphate.A caliphate is the idea, gaining currency in the Middle East, that it would be even better than having 57 piss-ant countries that cover their women head-to-toe and stop working five times a day to check their compasses and engage in group prayers, to instead have one huge-mothah-country, stretching from Africa to Indonesia, with colonies in London and in American ghettos and prisons, that does the same thing.
The caliphate would be ruled by a caliph, the caliph would essentially be the dictator of the Muslim world. However, he would be the most holy of clerics, and definitely not the result of politics, assassination, and treachery. His official duties would be limited to interpreting the Koran; also, to chopping off the limbs of persons with different interpretations.
Experts believe that Islam's current infatuation with restoring the ancient caliphate is somewhat less dangerous than having Vladimir Putin reassemble the old Soviet Union, though we may still get 'two for the price of one.'
